i wondered the outcome of original immigrant settlers without both assistance from and alliance with first nation people -- trading, farming and wars against "enemy" tribes, and the eventual revolutionaries, without help from Europeans and alliances with first nation people...

the term "Indian Wars" seems loosely applied sometimes.

occasional historical accounts can be found online, written at the time of events, which document all sorts of spiderwebs of alliances and wars; predating the immigrant settlers there were also alliances and wars.

general information regarding the colonial period and later -- snapshots, quick overviews. there are links for some further study, several dkos groups, and more. some of my ancestors received pensions for having served in "Indian War," one (which is too loosely connected to locate at the moment) was De La Ware; i'm unable to overlook those who were slaveowners.

i am proud for all First Peoples who fought to exist, still fight to exist, and still wish i could ululate. i know i can never participate in traditional dancing.

.. longest war the United States has ever fought. Since the  U.S.-Indian wars lasted from 1791-1890, I think that qualifies as the longest.
