It's never simple.  I think for starters would be complete transparency.  Open discussions.  None of these "golf meetings" or private meetings with lobby dudes.

For and By the People - We The People... now it seems something more of out Python.  Repressed Peasants.

As a Mom, I know that it's not always easy coming up with an answer or a solution.  Each child is different and with different needs, wants and tantrums.  Growing pains of each side as we both struggle to help each other through tough times.  And not get on each other's nerves too much during good tmes.

Open dialogue has always worked.  Being honest.  Saying as a parent, "I don't know" sometimes is the wisest thing I can say at times.

I don't feel Presidential in my house, although I and my partner have complete "control" over most things.  ... If we chose to see it that way.  But we don't.  We have to work, learn and grow together.

Maybe "power" is the problem.  It usually is.

I would love to be able to sit with chips and salsa and talk this over with you.  I appreciate so much your willingness to share and discuss.

I'm not really that great of a political analyst or animal but I firmly believe that each choice we make is actually political.  So here I am. :)

    •  Expecting leaders to change or do the right thing (0+ / 0-)

as we see it is not a realistic approach. They got to where they are by doing things a certain way and the last thing they want to do is risk their position and power by changing how they do things. They're extremely conservative that way, whatever their political ideologies. Obama is no more likely to be more transparent at this point by our merely asking for it as Boehner is to come up with 20 new IQ points by switching tanning salons.

These people are set in their ways, whether by nature or out of political calculation--or both. The ONLY way to get them to change for the better is by pressuring them, from outside, in various ways. And one of the best ways I know of is public humiliation and shame, as politicians are uniformly vain and concerned about their public image and will do anything to avoid a bad image.

Get a few thousand seniors to march on congress and BOOM no more talk of cutting Social Security or Medicare. Get the parents of the Newtown, Aurora and other mass gun shooting victims and BOOM (no pun intended) we'll get real gun control reform. And get a mass movement of everyday people marching, protesting and getting arrested against fracking, fossil fuels and new drilling and, well, it won't quite be BOOM, but suddenly it becomes a lot harder for the fossil fuel industry to get new approvals.

There are other ways of getting leaders to change, but this is a biggee.
