    Is true. Baucus does next to nothing to promote the Montana Democratic party. I was surprised that he did so much to get Tester elected the first time six years ago.

    Max does not like having any more progressive dems in the limelight in this state.

      The way you grow an organization in this century is to look at the big issue everyone is fighting over, stake out a position your side likes, and aggressively message and organize people around it, growing a list of donors and activists.

      MDP can't do that with Baucus. Because quite literally by definition, the issues that are good for organizing are the same issues where Baucus sells out.

      Here's just a quick look at recent issues where the MDP should have organized but Baucus ended up opposing the progressive position:

      * Filibuster Reform
      * Tax cuts for Billionaires
      * Public Option
      * John Roberts
      * Samuel Alito
      * Wall Street Bailouts
      * Austerity
      * Corporate tax breaks
      * Revolving Door Corruption
      * Dark Money Corruption
      * Iraq War
      * Bush Tax Cuts
      * "Free" Trade
      * Patriot Act
      * Warrantless Wiretaps
      * EFCA
