  •  Shoot. The stores are filled end to end, top to (3+ / 0-)

bottom with all softs of stuff. Why would people think they even have to challenge a system the provides so damned much?

Sure most of it's crap, and if you could pull from the shelves those 'food' products that contained sugar additives, your run-of-the-mill super market would be damned near empty (if not empty altogether in some cases), but the fact remains many Americans are quite content with the system.

Rotten teeth, diabetes, cancer, they don't care. It's good so long as it's sweet, colorful and plentiful.

Hell, like distractions kept Rome in business for centuries.

As a case in point, my local Safeway Supermarket is packed day in, day out with mindless consumers. It downright depresses me when I have to go in there.

Physics is bulls**t. Don't let them fool you. Fire IS magic.

americans, even if money is very tight, can buy lots of things, and have been so beguiled by the tv and now iphones, etc., that they're hooked on external gratification

so if you don't know how to cook, you can get cheap food that's made of stuff that's filling but not nutritious; the dollar stores are everywhere and the multiplicity and variety of the products are attractive but most won't last, made of shoddy material, contributing only to the landfills ultimately

so we're all like the frog in the slowly heating pot, thinking we've got some kind of life for ourselves and our family, while wages stagnate, unemployment stays high, and prices rise
