One of the few laws we have in Wicca is "Do no harm".  A LOT of witches have trouble with the idea of Wiccans int he military--my husband occasionally got flack (msotly from very young FLuffy Bunny types in their very early 20s who learned their Craft from Llewellyn Press).  It's jys that owning a  gunshop hits me as being off for a WIccan somehow.

Joey is a very sweet, very Southern lady who works in administration of an island off the coast of NC.  We stopped being friend after I moved to GA and ocmplained about the attitudes here. I deeply offended her by disliking Southern hypocrisy, nosiness and heavy-duty Christianity.  Friendships with a SOutherner seldom survive criticism of the SOuth.  Which may be why I have zero friends here other than Kossacks!

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.

I mean, people rag on my hometown (Pittsburgh) all the time, but I've never broken a friendship over it.

in their heads. I actually had one woman tell me the South didn't lose .  Pointing out that the head of your army surrendering to the head of the opposing army and the head of your "country" going to jail as a traitor usually means you lost didn't budge her an inch.

The interesting thing is that my MiL, born in AL and raised down here 95% of her life 9she spent a few years in CHicago and Alaska as young wife) is te one who told me that asking what church you go to ISN'T being friendly but a way of tagging where you fit int he pecking order, since churches still tend to divide along racial, political and economic lines...
