Just curious about all things cholesterol.  My ratio went from 5.1 to 3.9 in one month of vegan eating.  Lost 20 points on my total cholesterol as well.

    •  Actually poor link between total cholesterol (0+ / 0-)

and heart disease. Half of the people suffering heart attacks have normal or low cholesterol. HDL/trig ratio seems to be a better predictor. Also need to get into particle size of LDL

when you start factoring in other risks.  I also have high BP, so my doctors  have been after me to deal with my lipids.  That's what they get paid to do, I suppose.

I can't and won't take statins so I decided, one month before my last lab test, to try a vegan diet.  The results were way better than I hoped.  Will it make a difference to my longevity?  Can't say.
But at least I am behaving responsibly by doing what I can.  At least I am not a slave of big Pharma.

So I am going to try and stick with it for a time.
