    Don’t like Hagel? Fine, withdraw his name and nominate a Democrat instead. Then ask the GOP how they like them apples.

    Republicans are trying to redefine what it takes to legislate. Apparently their new rule is that a Cabinet appointee can’t be confirmed if more than 3 Republican Senators vote against them.

    Have you noticed that the GOP has normalized the practice of filibustering everything? in the Senate? I often hear reporters on the news saying that it takes 60 votes to pass a bill in the Senate. No it doesn’t. It takes 51 votes, just like it always did. It takes 60 votes to invoke cloture, which is only necessary when the other side is filibustering. Big difference, and blithely saying it takes 60 votes to pass a bill skirts right around the pertinent fact that the GOP is obstructing the process.
