    well. Duh, if you don't want your employees to steal, fire them and remove the problem from your company. What is NOT a no-brainer about this??

      their employees are stealing until a whole lot has been stolen.  And many times, they know they're being stolen from, but don't know which employee is doing it - so they have to suspect all their employees.  Which could be you.  And which is, I assure you, a horrible position for an employer who wants to be able to trust their employees to be in.  Do you not get how insidious this kind of thing is?  It doesn't just harm the person being stolen from, but every single person that can be suspected.  Don't be terribly surprised if someday you're fired because your employer knows they're being stolen from and worry it might be you.  THAT'S why the guilty people need to be prosecuted.  Then the employer can know the most likely guilty party the next time.  I'm not real big on kicking the problem down to the next person.
