    darkened town hall meeting... I'd say, make this an issue in your community. Get these types of statutes researched, and bend the ears of your council-people.

    We were able to keep a big box out of our town because they did not allow for a fire emergency crush zone in their building design. It took a lot of research. The Planning Dept did not do this research- concerned citizens did. And we hit them with run-off issues in the streams, pollution going to the lake, firearms, pharmaceuticals for sale too near the schools, use of Police and Fire depts, the list was comprehensive. In the last analysis the fire zone regulations meant they had lost their momentum because they were forced to consider redesigning the entire space.

    Long story short, even good situations can be bettered, but it takes a concerned citizenry. Best of luck!
