    I hate seeing medical procedures in themselves being demonized especially when they can be incredibly useful.

    Lawmakers have absolutely NO business mandating any kind of medical procedure.  It's clear that conservative anti-choice legislators have latched on to the transvaginal ultrasound precisely because to them it poses a physical threat to the woman, and that is absolutely horrible.  As anyone can see in this thread, women have different physical and emotional responses to the procedure (and the skill and sensitivity of the techs doing the procedure also can vary greatly).  

    Indiana lawmakers are doing a double disservice in creating this bill:  by mandating a specific procedure they are both invading the privacy of patient/doctor relationships and purposely making the transvaginal ultrasound sound like a truly bad rape-like procedure, perhaps scaring other women away from it.
