and hold the senate / a wash 55 stays 55 when the dust settles from any lost seats and those picked up thanx to some crazy teahadist candidate torpedoing it for rs

then 2016 we retake House and keep the presidency with senate seat gains

the GOP has been driving people away in droves.
They have shown who and what they are, and do not have the ability to change.

The difference will come if we understand how critical 2014 will be and get voters to the polls like never before in an "off-year"

There's no such thing as an off-year. It's all important.

if they go forward with supporting immigration reform, they turn their base against them. Remember 2010 and what a demoralized base can do to its party?

Clearly, they're seen as johnny-come-latelys on immigration reform, which means puts them between the proverbial rock-&-a-hard-place: If they fight reform, they lose Hispanics for a generation (at least); If they embrace reform, at best it allows them to stem the bleeding wrt Hispanic voters (no more than that), or they wind up un/undercredited for their efforts due to the tepid pandering that drives their meager "commitment" to immigration reform.

Either way, they lose: They stay the course they long ago set and please the aging corps of xenophobes they've long cultivated but who are not so long for this world, while alienating the fastest growing population in the country; or, they tepidly embrace immigration reform, accompanied by an expectable avalanche of pandering gobbledegook that will demonstrate their lack of genuine interest in that reform.

Remember Mitt's "binders full of women"? That is the sort of feckless pandering I fully expect the GOPpers to engage in as they try desparately to forstall electoral doom at the hands of Hispanic voters.

Get ready. Make popcorn. It's coming.

A winning campaign? You didn't build that...

If only Michael Phelps hadn't smoked that pot...imagine what he could have accomplished with motivation and good lung capacity.
