    But in academe you can get a lot of books free by claiming that you're thinking of using them in a future class. I don't sell books unless they're textbooks (I get those free too) and I haven't run out of shelf space in my office yet.

    There was also a LONG period of time when the libraries where I lived were so well stocked and easy to use (plus, in advertising, there used to be a lot of free magazines too) that all we bought were cookbooks, and those only in stores that sold used books. I don't think any of this is especially weird.

      You don't think THAT'S weird?  I do!  I'm immediately going to start thinking of books I want to use in a future class.  That would save me a ton of money.  LOL!
