connections to their staffs.  I tend to do my research with local political blogs and news, figure out what issues in each state and race the voters in those areas care about the most.  I also try to listen closely to political advocates from these states on what they have to say about what's going on in these races.  See Democrats have been able to hold these seats in rural red states like West Virginia and South Dakota by both focusing on local issues and how the federal government can help with these local issues.  Now I am trying to develop a close relationship with Aubrey Montgomery, Allyson Schwartz's finance director in her run for governor.  She's read my diaries on the PA-Gov race and is impressed.  I also reached out to Senator Mark Begich's (D. AK) staff and they are very impressed and grateful for my diaries about the Protecting and Preserving Social Security Act of 2013 and they want me to keep writing about it and build support.  From what Begich's staff told me Senators Bernie Sanders and Tom Harkin are on board with the plan and are working out the details but he needs more co-sponsors.  Even Republicans if he can get them.  I think Mark Kirk, Susan Collins or Lisa Murkowski are good targets.  I might even try to get Begich to be a part of the Social Security Defenders blogathon.
