shared resources, for one. Like some rinky-dink charter school is going to be able to duplicate all the educational assets a district has? Give me a break. I work for a smallish public school district. There aren't enough students to have, say an autism specialist or teacher for the hearing impaired or occupational therpist on every campus, but there are several employed by the district, who go from campus to campus to serve every kid who needs them. But then again, the charter people don't really care about special education. Conservatives would repeal IDEA if they could. No one paid much attention to Romney's education platform, but he essentially wanted to do just that - dismantle IDEA and Title 1 funds and voucherize them for each kid, which completely misses the point of how these programs work.
