Karl Rove is deadly afraid of and it is also the thing that is going to hand Karl his a..s in a sling.

These folks RULE Kansas and they are not going away.  When more moderate Republicans tried to create a PAC to support moderate GOP state legislators, it wound up raising a grand total of about 80 grand and the moderate candidates were annihilated.

It is the wingnuts' control of the process and of primaries that gets you folks like Brownback, and it is political stances taken by folks like Brownback that, on the national political stage, are steadily killing the party's chances of running electable candidates.

It is only by heavy GOP control of enough state legislatures to redistrict and gerrymander strongholds for party members (and by now trying to use that same power to "reform" the electoral college to help them win states where they are in the minority and try and discourage Democratic turnout via Voter ID laws) that this party is staying afloat.

Free markets would be a great idea, if markets were actually free.

My state senator, who was also Senate President, was one of those moderates and was replaced by some guy I've never heard of.

Morris, who predicted a series of conservative legislation in Topeka starting in January, said he expects Kansas voters to reverse course on conservatives in the future. "I hope the electorate when they see what happens with ultraconservatives, they decide that is not what they want," he said. "That takes a while, though, Senate elections are every four years."
