  •  That's why they're so racist. (1+ / 0-)

What's ironic is that there are so very, very few blacks around.
I know people in South Dakota.

They can shout the n-word all day long, with no consequences. They don't have to worry that they might be talking about a co-worker or a teacher or a clerk at the market, because they're all white, too.

It is more important to be a confident and articulate speaker than to know jack shit about anything.

    •  No doubt you're right. (0+ / 0-)

When racism comes up for discussion, I'm always reminded of the extraordinarily wise lyrics to a song from South Pacific:

Youve Got To Be Carefully Taught

       You've got to be taught
       To hate and fear,
       You've got to be taught
       From year to year,
       It's got to be drummed
       In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!
