  •  I was looking at the Drought Monitor (16+ / 0-)

this weekend as I am heading to Arizona in ten days and wanted to get a feel for what the current conditions are there.  Your area does seem to still be in bad shape.  I hope you get a lot more rain.

Here the issue is that climate change seems to be making our rain much more episodic and less regular.  It is great to see the swamps filling back up again.  I was in the National Forest yesterday and the creeks were running very strongly.

This storm has been a boon to winter breeding amphibians here.

    •  Nothing has been normal, whatever that is, here (13+ / 0-)

for a long time now, but within that context, we still have
the extremes with see sawing.  And strangely we're just now having more typical winter weather which will continue for a couple of weeks if the forecast holds.

I keep telling people that we need another higher level on the drought scale, as Australian had to do the temperatures last year, since I know that our area has been drier that others at the top.

If the predictions for the heat over most of the nation
this summer holds, I think many more people will become
convinced of the seriousness of climate change.

More: Some men think the Earth is round, others think it flat; it is a matter capable of question. But if it is flat, will the King's command make it round? And if it is round, will the King's command flatten it?
