Let's dog these idiots Hammer and Anderson and not allow them the "privacy" they believe their rank and station entitles them to.
So I was doing a bit of research to do that and then I found this:

    http://www.nydailynews.com/...

Hammer said stiffer charges wouldn't have stuck.

"We cannot prove vehicular homicide. We cannot prove criminally negligent homicide," he said. "I understand the family members are upset. I don't blame them."

He added that the victim was also very drunk. Cioffi's .22 blood-alcohol level - nearly three times the legal limit - made proving the charges that much tougher for prosecutors.

Hey, why wasn't that in the diary?  So went back and looked at the diary again... after all, didn't the video prove Anderson was at fault?  Why wasn't that in the news stories I read?
Video cameras clocked the SUV at 60 m.p.h. flying up Water Street, then weaving around a bend in the road. "Nana" was thrown in the air as Anderson's Mercedes-Benz SUV took off.

ADA David Hammer was the one who said that "(Cioffi) probably stepped out from between two parked cars" - feigning ignorance of the multiple surveillance videos. In fact, eye witness accounts had her trying to hail a cab.

Hey, get out the pitchforks.  But wait... where is the cite?  In fact, there is no cite for anything in the diary except the Dickens excerpt.  Who claims the surveillance videos and eye witnesses showed Cioffi hailing a cab?

And then what the heck does this have to do with naked shorts?  Absolutely nothing.

At this point, this just looks like an unsourced diary with an axe to grind and selective at best presentation of the facts.

And of course it's just fiction, but some guy named Tom Wolfe did a pretty good job of showing How It Really Works in a nice volume titled "The Bonfire of the Vanities:"

No sale, fella. Keep up the effort, though -- the 0.001% thanks you, and your rewards will be great...

        •  The Grand Jury thought enough of the evidence (0+ / 0-)

to bring charges for vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, felony DUI, and leaving the scene.

Anderson admitted the DUI (as born out by the hospital blood test.) His driving created the hazard. 100% of it.

Florence Cioffi was a stationary target.

Quotes from the detectives have apparently been edited/erased from web sites. Or blocked at the search engines -- neither a difficult task for "social engineering" history-changers.

The first ADA assigned to the case summarized the evidence, including the "60 m.p.h. speed," as related here:

I spoke with her and verified that the surveillance video was in evidence. If they had needed help doing a reconstruction, no problem. We knew Flo from North Tower.

Protecting Wall Street is a 24/7/365 operation with no shortage of keyboard-banger resources. Anything can be denied. Same as NRA. Same as support for "tough sentencing" to fill private prisons. Same as the next time somebody wants to get us into a war. And on and on and on.

      •  None of the sources you cite back the claim (0+ / 0-)
Video cameras clocked the SUV at 60 m.p.h. flying up Water Street, then weaving around a bend in the road. "Nana" was thrown in the air as Anderson's Mercedes-Benz SUV took off.

There is nothing in any of the sources you cite, except the DK diary, but that is also unsourced.

And that's where it gets interesting.

This diary is written by "waterstreet2008".  The diary you cite (http://www.dailykos.com/...) is strangely similar - right down to the same Dickens excerpt introduced by the sentence "Indeed, this echos the carriage scene from "A Tale of Two Cities."" vs. "Indeed, how is any of this different from the carriage scene from "A Tale of Two Cities:", but that diary is by "vets74".  And now "jm214" is here in this diary but citing the "vets74" diary.

So, who are you?  And are "waterstreet2008", "vets74", and "jm214" three people?  Or just one?  I don't think sock puppets are allowed on this site.  How do we pass this on to site admins?

        •  You oughta know, no diaries, 32 comments of a (0+ / 0-)

sort of flavor, "joined" Feb. 13, 2013. But then I'm sure you looked "jm214" up, right? I'm maybe obnoxious to some, but I am an actual real person not hiding behind a persona.

          •  Well, obviously you're a real person (0+ / 0-)

Question is whether these three people are one real person or three real people.

As for me, what exactly are you claiming?  What exactly is suspicious about a new account?
