  •  Again the blame is going to Obama and the (5+ / 0-)

democrats are playing into the hands and caving into Republican demands.   What bullshit.  While 54 of the progressive dems (let alone all dems) won't sign the letter demanding no cuts to medicare, SS, and medicaid.  Sure thing.

"What these progressive voices have in common (in addition to acknowledging the ridiculous nature of the debate by Beltway establishment figures) is agreement that President Obama and the Democrats—far from winning a public opinion "blame game"—are sadly playing directly into the hands of a Republican Party hell bent on pushing an economic austerity agenda on the country at a time when the exact opposite course is needed."

This is from Bill Black on why Obama refuses to kill the sequester,

"The only logical inference that can be drawn is that Obama remains committed to inflicting the “Grand Bargain” (really, the Grand Betrayal) on the Nation in his quest for a “legacy” and continues to believe that the Sequester provides him the essential leverage he feels he needs to coerce Senate progressives to adopt austerity, make deep cuts in vital social programs, and to begin to unravel the safety net.  Obama’s newest budget offer includes cuts to the safety net and provides that 2/3 of the austerity inflicted would consist of spending cuts instead of tax increases.  When that package is one’s starting position the end result of any deal will be far worse."

    •  evening al... (3+ / 0-)

this whole debacle is getting progressively (no pun intended) more depressing.   when i read that story about the progressive caucus that couldn't seem to rouse itself to espouse a progressive agenda and stand up to those that are trying to screw us, i just about threw up both of my hands.

i am rapidly coming to the conclusion that progressive is a synonym for "freaking useless."  i realize that there are a few people in that caucus who have never strayed from the cause and have the courage of their convictions, but it seems like their numbers are dwindling.

couldn't decide which "outrage" to rant about, so I chose the Progressive Caucus piece you posted. One of my beefs on that was not just against Obama, but against the Prog. Caucus for never do anything to support their agenda and simply rolling over and "supporting" the President.

And lo and behold this this morning on Common Dreams I see that story of how many useless members of the Prog. Caucus there are. The only thing that kept me from sending it to you is that I know you already go to Common Dreams a lot, so you were probably going to see it.

Sam Seder's Majority Report topic yesterday was how fucked up the Telecoms are. I hope you'll include that tomorrow. I'll send you the link.

        Lovin' the music tonight, Joe!
