I used to work for an airline. Lots of odd-hour work, which is to be expected in a 24/7 operation.

Sometimes we'd be given the opportunity to leave early with out pay (our version of PTO), which was great when you're young and time at the beach is more important.

Lots of times they'd also come around asking for overtime. You had a choice, either overtime at 1.5 pay or straight comp time. I thought it was great, but it was a lot of work keeping track of all those hours for all of us.

At first, people could take the time when the wanted except for Holidays and peak season, but then it became more and more restrictive.

I can see both sides of this.

To me, optimally, if employees had the choice and could built up comp time, it would be huge benefit. So to be honest, though not particularly popular on this site, some form of comp time for time worked could be hugely popular.

While I think Republicans are scumbags, it is worse for us to let them get in front of an issue that could prove to be fairly popular. Group-think can be dangerous.

What separates us, divides us, and diminishes the human spirit.
