  •  Yeah, note what they aren't cutting (6+ / 0-)

One step along in the 'libertarian' agenda of cutting everything from the government but the military, the police, and controlling people's sexuality. I say just take all the cuts from the military. We've got too many bases internationally anyway. We don't need bases in Europe. What war are we going to fight in Europe?

Up next, privatize the police and the military!

At least food stamps are still there, for now.

it.  I saw this coming in 2009.  The step by step strategy works, as does the Manhattan for trinkets strategy:  throw out a few shiny baubles and while the public is distracted and the interest groups are exclaiming, cut the big dirty deals in private.

    •  Libertarian agenda... (0+ / 0-)

...equals more police? Who knew. All the libertarians I know would rather fire entire departments of drug enforcers.

I'm talking about the tea party 'libertarians' like Rand Paul who push libertarianism as long as it means less restrictions for corporations and less protections for marginalized people, and then scream their heads off any time the military or police are even eyed wrong.

Yes, there are plenty of libertarians who vehemently oppose the police state, I haven't seen any of them elected to a position of power in the Republican party.

      •  Except that "libertarians" want police (0+ / 0-)

        to enforce private property "rights".

Of course, what we call libertarians in the US aren't real libertarians. The term is a misnomer for right wing free market zealots, since capitalism offers little freedom to the working class, who sell themselves as wage slaves.
