  •  I would add it is essential to have a POA in place (5+ / 0-)

    not only for medical reasons but for personal and business reasons as well.   Have a durable POA drawn up giving a trusted person the ability to conduct your affairs should you become incapacitated short or long term.

    w/o a POA, it is almost impossible for your agent to do anything, short of going to court and obtaining an order
