  •  The sequester cuts are bad (0+ / 0-)

but lets face it - if Congress could work together - to come up with 85 billion in spending cuts in a 4 trillion dollar budget should be simple.

Knowing the political climate - The President should have never agreed to the sequester knowing it was going to be a political football.

The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government. - Thomas Jefferson

the Republicans were ready to throw the Treasury into default on the U.S. debt.  What would you have had the president do in the face of such a threat?  You can say the president shouldn't have negotiated with the hostage-takers, but it's his responsibility to protect the country from "enemies both foreign and domestic."

The Republicans apparently feel no such responsibility.  They are now rationalizing the idea that plunging  the country into another recession is a good strategic political move for them.

"In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for; as for me, I rejoice that I am not a Republican." - H. L. Mencken
