I was constructing a diary this evening on this very subject and been writing to the local papers an legislatures up there.  People are NOT paying attention to what is happening in and around these towns along the Mississippi river.

I was born in Red Wing and this issue disturbs me so much that I have barfing goblins since I've heard about this!

Both of my parents are dead now, but my one surviving aunt is just as livid as I am.

Please include in your diary the email address to Save the  They are compiling a lot of great info on this issue and could use some help.

These frac sand mining companies go into these picturesque little towns and grind down the river bluffs so they can sell the abundant silica sand in them just to shoot it down holes for fracking in other states.  In the meantime the residents of these towns are breathing in fine particulates (silica sand which causes silicosis) and losing the limestone and sandstone bluffs that have served for so many years to filter the water an replenish their wells an aquifers.

And on top of that, the big trucks that haul what used to the bluffs away tear up the roads and the local citizen get stuck for that in taxes...
