coping. The market is so bad out here that few are interested in listing yet another house.

But my step-daughters, only a few years younger than I am, are concerned about how far away this place is from anywhere else. And I love 'em both, but wouldn't want to live their cities. I love it out here.

and if/when a time comes when it's time to do something else, you'll know. So just asking the question opens your mind to new possibilities, which as you say, is great to help you move forward. One chapter in your life is over, but the story will continue.

Many people advise newly-widowed people not to make any drastic changes for a year, to give yourself time. And frankly I'd wait until the housing market looks better. (I waited five years after my divorce to sell the house and move -- on my own schedule, when it felt right.)
