I found This diary which, while it doesn't get the the full explanation, it does have comments from kos on the reason why.

I still don't completely understand what happened.

According to the comments made by kos in that diary, it was something pretty immature which involved emails and possibly kosmails back and forth between them and another kossack.  It had been going on for awhile and kos had hoped it would resolve itself.  Then one of them wrote a diary that gave pretty broad hints as to who this other kossack was and because of that, kos banned them both.  One of his comments said that the local law enforcement was involved.  Shocking, isn't it?

I don't know what kos saw as "broad hints" to anyone's identity. Maybe the hints are there if you already know the backstory, but without at least some prior knowledge, it's all so deliberately vague as to reveal nothing at all beyond the gender of the aggrieved Kossack.

first wrote a diary (on Monday) and it was that diary that made hints as to the identity to this other kossack.  She was bojoed then and her diary was removed.  Yesterday Jim posted a diary and he was bojoed after publication of that diary.  I have not seen either diary

            •  Are you sure about a diary by Melanie? (1+ / 0-)

I only know what I've read yesterday and today, same as most of us, but I didn't notice any reference to a deleted diary other than the one by Jim. I didn't read that all that closely before it was deleted, but I don't remember any reference to a prior diary there either.

I certainly could've missed or forgotten something.

first impression, but I could have jumped to a conclusion.  She was bojoed a day before Jim though, of that I'm sure.  It seemed to fit well that it was a diary because I didn't seen any comments by her that would have led to a bojo.  I dunno...it is all confusing, but it does seem Markos was aware for some time and hoped it would work itself out.

I'm just in a tailspin since I was the only other admin in "Hunger in America" which was founded by Melanie.  One of the contributors had sent a group mail asking to be published at a certain time and I hosed that up by publishing it too early.  However, the diarist has not shown up at all so and it spent a good deal of time on the rec list, so I suppose it's all good.  Problem is, I have to decide what to do about "Hunger in America".

That's just the sort of thing that gives DKos enduring value...

despite these periodic flareups of "drama." I don't know Melanie & Jim at all, but from a distance, they seem like the nicest people in the world; absolutely the last Kossacks to involve themselves in controversy or harassment.

I don't doubt Kos' word that he had no choice but to act as he did, but--again from a distance, and in the absence of any real knowledge--this doesn't "feel" like justice.
