  •  you should. they mean a great deal to those who (0+ / 0-)

agree to abide by them in college settings.  in my undergrad days, a student could get grounded for drinking (was prohibited back then) but that same student could be expelled for LYING about drinking.  and, fyi, it is also called the honor council - made up of students and faculty combined to deal with violations.

it really IS about "honor" - something too few seem to have these days.

my oath - something i take with great seriousness - applied to not just the time on campus, it applied to ALL aspects of our lives.  we were making a commitment to those living values instead of trying to get around them.

i STILL believe in that honor code and still base my actions upon it.

it is really quite simple - queens, davidson, unc and many universities and colleges - all say the same thing:  the student will not cheat, lie, steal.  all of these are a strong foundation upon which to base one's life!

class really don't grow up early, do they?

At the same age honest working people were raising kids and holding down jobs, the soft handed white color clowns were getting "grounded".

When adolescence is extended far enough, it winds up never coming to an end.

income gains to the top 1% from 2009 to 2011 were 121% of all income increases. How did that happen? Incomes to the bottom 99% fell by 0.4%

      •  exactly WHAT makes you think that i was a child (0+ / 0-)

        of the upper middle class?

you disparage my father who worked his heart out to send two girls to school when women didn't go to college.  he was blue collar - worked long hours - he and mom gave up so many things to give us a future.  we did without more than we did with - and you make your rude assumption that we were "upper middle class"?

as for "growing up" - i think you may have that comment backwards.  grownups don't disparage out of envy.  grownups don't label others with rude assumptions.  grownups take the time to learn the facts before they open their mouths (or loosen their fingers).

and GROWNUPS don't resent others for imagined advantages.

envy is a sad state to live within.  i hope you have a chance to move on.

      •  oh, and one more thing that seems to have gone (0+ / 0-)

        over your head...

"grounded" in college terms means "restricted to campus" - not allowed to leave.

what a pity you felt the need to lash out.  your response made me physically ill.
