I know this isn't funny at all, but my first thought was natural selection at work.

    •  Every experiment needs negative controls (16+ / 0-)

We are embarking on a grand social / public health policy experiment. There will be schools with good practices and schools that hire incompetent trainers and that fail to establish or enforce best practices.

Just like we've seen with police,
      - firearms will forgotten in the bathroom,
      - left in a car glove box
      - a child will "accidentally" to shoot themselves with it,
      - some firearm will go missing from a "locked" desk drawer - some disadvantaged student will be charged with stealing it and shuttled off to the school to prison pipeline,
      - years later the student will be exonerated.
      - some teacher or administrator will go postal and bring their school gun to a staff meeting,
      - someone else will experience something in their life that leads to depression and commit suicide with their school sanctioned gun, maybe on school property.
      - districts will have to raise taxes to pay for the injury lawsuits

      We know this story.

The gun safety research that has been prevented by the NRA and Congress, will now take place in an uncontrolled nationwide experiment in WARP time.

The burst of injuries and abuses in those districts that load up on arms will turn out to be the negative controls.
