  •  To be fair, that was the Arkansas Project. (0+ / 0-)

Not the cocktail circuit.  But they loved hammering Clinton on anything he did that deviated in the slightest from the GOP Mastur Plan for America.

How can it be a "free" market if you're forced to obey the rich?

was happy to pile on.   It was a very diverse media scrum.

It is an old strategy of tyrants to delude their victims into fighting their battles for them. FDR

card in their coverage.  But they sure did love all the sex scandal innuendos later on, and were happy to blame Bill for pretty much anything and everything - except, of course, for anything he actually did wrong in his actual capacity as President (e.g., NAFTA, China trade, welfare evisceration, etc.)

After Clinton took office in 1993, it was found that the Bush  holdovers in the Travel Office were involved in mismanagement and possible illegal activities involving the handling of funds used to pay for the travel of members of the WH press corps.  It was later found that there were financial improprieties in the office since the Reagan Administration.

Some members of the news media, including the Villagers, were at risk of being caught up in this scandal because it appeared some of them benefited financially from it.

When MacLarty and Foster fired the Bush holdovers and launched an FBI investigation, the Villagers panicked and piled on the media attack.

It was the media attacks on Foster over this scandal that led to his suicide.  No, they didn't partake in CT after his death, but they were the ones responsible for causing his death.
