  •  My mom, gone 11 years now, loved gardening (11+ / 0-)

and passed that love along to me.  So I too often see little signs of her presence as my flowers bloom.  Her favorite plant...and color and scent...was the rose.

I'm not so sure about an after life, but I have to say that as I plant lily corms (my favorite plants) and think about what gorgeous beautifully scented flowers will arise from that small brown globe, I feel certain there is some higher power that makes it possible.  So, yes, think of your rose buds as a symbol and a message...and take comfort in knowing your loved ones are still surrounding you.  Just not in ways that we mere mortals yet fully understand.

Not just your mother, but your mom. My mom struggled with belief in a higher power, but to me it is logical.

One of my science teachers talked of the "Prime Mover" theory. I've never heard anyone else talk of it. We live in linear time, where everything has a beginning and an end. How could everything start? There must be something outside of time and space that started everything. Most call that something, "God"
