    I understood about a singularity intellectually but could never really grasp the fullness of what the heck a singularity actually is. Taking my time with A Brief History of Time, reading it slowly, taking my time and contemplating it, I was FINALLY right on the verge of a full understanding, the light going on, when BOOM! Hawking hit me with the notion that a singularity was not really even necessary after all.

    ARRGGGHHHH! My mind blown, I put the book away and didn't go back to it for several years.

    It's humbling to accept that one is not nearly as smart as one might have thought... ;)
