find out...that's part of what this book suggests...and we have been so conditioned to rely on outside authorities (religions, political leaders, etc.) that we, first and foremost, need to find out how to actually look at reality directly for ourselves...and only through actual, direct observation (including seeing through the illusions and delusions that our brains and egos have constructed)...can real change occur...otherwise...we're just fooling ourselves.

...this, basically, leads to the fact that our dualistic way of living (wanting to think that we're nonviolent even as we continue to to act violently, etc.) in and of itself produces conflict in ourselves; you take seven billion people, each of whom is living in dualistically-created conflict...and wars are inevitable... than try to change onself, per se, and rather than try to be something other than what we are...we need to explore the reality of exactly who we are...warts and all...and only through that observation of what's real...actually, truly looking, listening, observing...can we go beyond the psychological jail cells of our own making...

read his Awakening of Intelligence, which brought up some of the ideas you mention. Very thought-provoking book. Unfortunately, soon after finishing my intelligence went right back to sleep.
