  •  Have you considered addressing the (4+ / 0-)

City Commission in Ocala about the malfeasance going on at that enterprise? City Commissions don't have jurisdiction to make corrections, but they do have public comment periods and media coverage. Ditto for the County Commission. The latter might even be able to refer on-going corruption with which law enforcement has not been successful to a grand jury to inquire into particulars.
You need to generate local publicity and keep in mind that the non-abusive employees at that establishment are also being victimized by having to work in an abusive environment. If clients are being abused with impunity, what's to prevent a potential whistle-blower from being "silenced" in some way.
When there is an abusive situation there has to be an outside intervention.
Also, have you contacted Alan Grayson's office. I don't know if his district still extends to Ocala, but he's in that part of the state. He can, at least, prod the VA.
Keep in mind that our legal system is complaint-based. Somebody has to make a complaint to create probably cause for an investigation to take place. Vulnerable populations, of course, are incapable of making complaints and those that do complain as a matter of habit get dismissed. Juveniles have no rights anyway. So, they are doubly vulnerable.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.

    •  Alan Grayson is not the rep...Nuggent is but (5+ / 0-)

that is not the problem.   Nuggent is damn well aware or should be of what is happening and his kind of politics is part of the problem.    I would think one abuse is too many.   The VA is under federal guidlines and VISN guidelines and both know about The Vines.   I know Scott has his hand in almost all the healthcare down here whether it is  that Universal outfit or another one.
I know th Vines is being sued.  The paper says that.   The whole thing amounts to the VA not having a written contract with some of the pl
aces and working against the VA patient bill of rights.   It is about Health and Human services sending patients to a snake pit instead of a real medical facility.  I know there should be senate hearings on these kind of places.  I KNOW about the Vines, God only knows how many are out there to house
our vunerable.   There has to be some oversight as  the truth is everyone teen or not has the right NOT to be abused or made worse.
I don't understand the comment about being silenced either.    Many are being intimidated I am quite sure of that because wrongdoing is always covered up....we don't need to help that behavior.

    •  What ? (5+ / 0-)
everyone dies eventually. When abuse is the issue, death is actually a relief. So, what I suggest is that we stop worrying about people dying and focus on the abuse and injury that's inflicted willy-nilly just because it is "less than lethal."
That answer is unacceptable to me.
