  •  Saw part of that when I woke up. (27+ / 0-)

Woodward kept up his "I never used the word threat" defense, while continuing to assert that it was a threat using every other way of saying it.

David Axelrod was there to call bullshit, which of course caused a barrage of smoke-blowing from the other dramatis personae, especially Morning Ho himself.  Mika directly asked Woodward if he hadn't perhaps blown things out of proportion, and Woodward flatly denied it, going back to the "moving the goalposts" BS.

I watched it long enough to remember why I don't watch the show:  it's a Beltway whorefest of the worst order.  Worse than Meet the Press, I think.

Randi Rhodes had the only explanation that makes sense to me:  Woodward's books aren't selling like they used to, and he's losing his precious position of authority in the Beltway gasbag world.  She thinks he's dipping a toe in the right-wing outrage sea, where he hopes thousands of copies of his books will be bought by the usual propaganda outfits, to put him back on the best seller lists.

    •  Axelrod said "If you felt threatened, why didn't (14+ / 0-)

      you respond 'Stop threatening me'"?

And Woodward responded "I didn't feel threatened" and then stopped himself and said "Now look David . . ."

I heard this very clearly and hopefully they will have the video up, because it definitively puts the end to the whole "I was threatened" charade.

Bob, if you didn't feel threatened, why did you make such a big deal about being threatened?

My own theory is that he (Woodward) was literally carrying water for the Republicans and trying to spotlight that (according to him) the sequester idea originated in the White House and when he spotlighted that, they thuggishly threatened him. Republicans always like to plant the image of the Obama White House as thuggish Chicago legbreakers. Unfortunately for him, by making himself the story, he just succeeded in making himself look like a pathetic has-been.
