Pregnancy isn't some kind of walk in the park. It carries serious health risks even when a woman has proper health care.  Forcing a woman to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term is immoral, because it subordinates the life and health of the woman to the preservation of the fetus.

The bad faith of conservatives on this issue is demonstrated by their implacable opposition to laws that would ensure adequate health care for pregnant women and social support for children after they are born.  Not to mention their opposition to laws like the VAWA.  In short, the only thing that's real about conservatives on this issue is their undisguised sexism and contempt for women.

    •  No, this is a blind spot in their mania. (0+ / 0-)

I have another comment explaining the mania but the health aspect is where their mania carries them into cognitive dissonance which loses respect with most of the public.  That's why Obama survived.  Those caught in the mania of stopping "murder" do not understand that opposition because of their blind spot.  That's not mean.  That's misguided and inducing of tragedy.

Gov. Branstad (R-IA) claims to be "pro-life" (whatever that means) but he is refusing to except Medicaid expansion that would provide health care for low income pregnant women.
