that even though the Party of the Crooked Cross was not specifically a religious movement, those who joined it and did its bidding were overwhelmingly Christian.  Those people did not think they stopped being Christians, even good Christians the moment they started killing Jews or anyone else.   Of course, you are right Christians should be deathly ashamed of their brothers' complicity in the Holocaust and stop trying to distance themselves from it by pointing fingers at innocent abortionists.

....of Christianity to prevail over nationalism - Nazi Germany, a nation of mixed Catholic and Protestant citizens, had no qualms about attacking Catholic Poland and France, and religious authorities (especially Pius XII) did little to stop the nations from fighting.

9-11 changed everything? Well, Katrina changed it back.

and the Confessing Church were Christians and strongly opposed to Nazism.

The Nazis may have styled themselves as Christians, but they met with schism and resistance at the time.

... religious Nazis.  But it was not a religious movement, not like, say, the Crusades.  To say otherwise would be like claiming the Democratic Party is Baptist because Obama once attended a Baptist church.  One does not necessarily follow the other.  If anything, Naziism was a reversion from Christian beliefs (the best of which I happen to believe were borrowed from my people) to an almost prehistoric, prehuman mentality.  Naziism was greed.  It was hatred.  It was evidence of what happens when people abandon rules of decency tacitly agreed to by all Western civilizations.  It was a mentality that would destroy even its own if it was for the good of the party.  Naziism was a breakdown of humanity and civilization that went far beyond any religion.

Complicity?  That's another story.  As referred to by Varro, Rome acted as a clearinghouse for treasure stolen from my folks and others, all the while the Nazis were destroying Catholic nations.

The wisdom of my forebears ... Two wise people will never agree. Man begins in dust and ends in dust — meanwhile it's good to drink some vodka. A man studies until he's seventy and dies a fool.
