    vlajos, 4kedtongue, FG, rb608 see this cut & pasted onto facebook by certain right-wingers.  They would find it perfectly plausible.  I saw a piece yesterday revealing that the reason the Clinton campaign didn't pursue the birth certificate issue in 2008 was that Obama campaign operatives had threatened Chelsea's life if the matter wasn't dropped.  
    Yeah, they'd believe this in a heartbeat.

      ...almost as absurd as Woodward's statement comparing Obama to Nixon.

      There is no doubt in my mind that a frustrated Sperling raised his voice while speaking with Woodward, who seems more interested in assigning blame for the sequester as if it happened in a vacuum.  If the agreement hadn't been reached back in August, the House never would have voted to raise the Debt Ceiling and we'd be in MUCH worse shape as a result of that.  The point seems to be completely lost on Woodward.

      Moreover, his mendacity regarding Sperling's apology email makes it very hard to believe that his on-going harangue of the administration regarding the genesis of the sequester is a willful attempt on his part to muddy the waters and mitigate the utter obstructionist motivations of the Know-Nothing House / Senate Republicans.

      Sadly, turning Sperling into a murderous mobster doesn't even come CLOSE to the comedy which stands as Woodward's 'reporting'.
