  •  Versus letting Detroit continue to rot? (2+ / 0-)

I'm willing to try anything.  Nothing has worked - City council is completely stagnant and out of answers.  And yet they'll all run for re-election and they'll all be re-elected.  The city is dying, it's being eaten alive from the inside.

So what is your plan?  Do nothing.

Show me a better plan and I'll gladly choose it over the take-over.  But I'm willing to try something rather than do nothing.

If you're not talking about what billionaire hedgefund bankster Peter G. Peterson is up to you're having the wrong conversations.

    •  Why does it have to be (7+ / 0-)

between a complete takeover and doing nothing?

As I said, if you truly believe this is about helping the city, explain why it's only been done in cities that are majority or plurality black.

Nor have you explained how it's acceptable to suppress the rights of an entire city.

    •  Let Detroit go Chapter 9.... (0+ / 0-)

....and let bankruptcy lawyers and a creditors' committee undo decades of rot.

Republican politicians have one focus:  loot their constituencies by privatizing services, then get sweetheart deals after they leave office - Thomas Frank's The Wrecking Crew details this.

9-11 changed everything? Well, Katrina changed it back.
