would salvage your precious democratic principles.

Your concern for the actual social and living conditions for the residents of Detroit is sorely lacking in your quest for local representational purity.

But there is absolutely nothing pure or democratic about the segregation along municipal lines of metropolitan Detroit.

My concern for the actual social and living conditions for the residents of Detroit is why I realize that bringing in an Emergency Manager won't solve the problem.

Does anyone remember the discussion on here a year or two back about one of the EMs (I think in Pontiac) who was considering selling their waterworks to a company who had committed fraud in EPA testing?

Or how about some of the shadiness that went on in Benton Harbor?

Anyone who seriously thinks the purpose of an emergency manager is to help the people of the city is fooling themselves.

on what a terrible job the Emergency Managers have done.  Only one has been successful, and it's in a very small white artsy town.

I have to think that the people that are advocating for this approach have not done their homework.

started because the city is still in debt.  You can't get taxes from people who have no jobs.  We have the headquarters of the world's largest appliance manufacturer residing in Benton Harbor--Problem, they pay not taxes.
