we eat way too much animal product (not only meat but dairy, eggs, etc.); and way too much white flours and sugars.  Historically, we didn't have sodas or donuts or chips or processed foods as part of our diets, and the inflammation that can occur in our bodies from too many of these sorts of foods, often furthered by consumption of coffee, alcohol, pharmaceuticals, AND too sedentary lifestyles,  has more to do, I'd wager, with epidemic of obesity, diabetes, and other health issues, than just the decrease in physical activities, whatever our work.  Diet and inflammation in our bodies.  Think about it.  While I'm not a vegan, I have lived with HIV for over half of my life, but after years of relatively stable health, last year I had some complications and started eating much closer to a vegan diet than ever before, heavy on smoothies made with fruit and deep green vegetables and fermented, live foods--and saw my health improve drastically, with a commensurate rise in T-cells.  A childhood friend's daughter, who has been struggling with epilepsy, recently consulted with a nutritionist who put her on a vegan diet, and several weeks have gone by without seizures, where they used to happen daily.  The more real, and close to home, and incorporating of vegetables, we can make our diets, the better our health will be.
