Obama, or do the rest of the West Wingers, have some grand notion of how the political behaviors of that Beltway Bulls__t Generator, in which they all play a cynical, corrupt part, will somehow be brought around to actually resemble or actually become the structure we were preached to in Civics and Social Studies and History was the genius creation of our Enlightened Founding Fathers? That the processes that eventually bring The People's Representatives and Executives and Black-Robed Arbiters to our imperial Capital, with their portfolios of interests, special and general, will somehow be prevailed upon by serial blandishments to move away from the extremes, the personally and interest-group profitable extremes, and "Compromise?" What kind of "compromise" is in his deep old mind? Something like the Missouri Compromise? http://en.wikipedia.org/... Or as many here have opined, is this just a cover for a stratagem to un-knot the ol' social safety net and facilitate the transition to a post-Republic imperial state, with a few Haves and a whole lot of wage slaves kept in their places by the fear of losing whatever "living" they get at minimum or "bargained" (if the Kochs get their way) wages, or from the payouts from Social Security (into which they have paid, and to which they have both an "expectation" and an "entitlement" in the honest sense of that warped term)? And how about "fixing" Medicare by privatizing it ever further and sucking others into the Obamacare realm?

Seems to me that "compromise" is just another BS term devised by the folks who brought us Hopeful Progressives that wonderful hope of Hope'nChange, leaving the apologists among us to tell the rest of us how what we are getting from Washington is "the best that could be achieved, thanks to Republican intransigience." And telling us how we should be grateful for the various "features" of the ACA. And that hey, the inevitable slinking out of Iraq and Afghanistan and the inevitable approaches to war against Iran and of course the whole world-blanketing, take-your-citizenship-away-and-then-Hellfire-or-microdrone-you-dead, Global Network-Centric Interoperable Battlespace "security state," ought to make us happy, because, you know, "Terrorism!" and "Jobs!"

The fundamentals pretty clearly are (1) that there's more than enough, of everything that really matters, to go all the way around the table, for all of us, except for the few greedy, shifty SOBs who sweep all the meat and potatoes onto their infinitely elastic plates and gobble all the cookies, and then sucker the rest of us into thinking the smart thing to do is fight each other over the scraps; and (2) we are perforce all in the same boat, and the actions of a few to make themselves more acutely comfortable and to tickle their pleasure centers are on the point of capsizing the whole boat.

    Compromise? Pfaugh.
