  •   that's the problem in a nutshell - I, for one (7+ / 0-)

don't see it. Can you please flesh out the details. By not doing any constitutional reform during my lifetime, I've watched nothing but erosion of the rights I was taught about when I was a kid 60 years ago.

Blame the right, blame the left, don't blame anything, the, end result is still the same.

So what are we going to do?

There can be no protection locally if we're content to ignore the fact that there are no controls globally.

in the major European national banks, as well as here.   The oligarchs are not merely a US phenomenon, they are entrenched internationally with related persons on boards all across the world. Oil giants, chemical giants, financiers,  they don't recognize borders, that is why multinational corporations have multiplied and grown in power. The oligarchs profit centers are international,   and their interests and political ties are international.   The eyes of the world will be blind, they basically already are.  The oligarchs tried austerity in Europe almost without any opposition that mattered, more modern constitutions or not.

and regulatory agencies.  There is a revolving door, not only in the USA, but globally between financial executives, regulators and governments.

Until that ends and regulation begins to benefit the people rather than the banks, the same program will continue.
