  •  CBS headline today - "Nat'l debt up 6 Trillion (8+ / 0-)

since Obama took office", as if Obama was personally responsible for that increase.  Never mind that Bushie Boy ran up the credit card long before Obama was even elected.
With crap conservative stories like that dominating the "news" on a regular basis, it's no wonder Obama and Dems are caving.

    •  This is how the GOPers sell the (4+ / 0-)

      austerity scam...still.

Despite the fact that the election proved that the national debt was down the list of priorities, the GOPers continue to win the messaging war.

When someone is impatient and says, "I haven't got all day," I always wonder, How can that be? How can you not have all day? George Carlin

      Is owned by 5 corporations.

There's your problem right there.  So much power to steer public opinion in so few hands.  Stalin and Hitler would be equally envious of what American crony capitalists have achieved.

Who do these corporations work for?  The average citizen and the common good?  Hardly.  They are owned and operated on behalf of an oligarchy and myriad others in the "investor class"... the 1%, or 0.1%, or possibly even as narrow as the top 0.01%. [BTW, my definition of investor class is the subset of society defined by its ability to receive large income streams from rent-seeking i.e. money made from money via speculation, interest (aka usury), crony capitalism (aka corruption / abuse of power), etc.]

Until the core of this power is attacked, the power to control the masses through propaganda, and it is brought to heel, these problems will NEVER be resolved.  The super-rich and their insatiable greed and unremitting thirst for power have to be brought to heel.

The intrinsic nature of Power is such that those who seek it most are least qualified to wield it.
