  •  Neither party is able to do more than nibble (15+ / 0-)

around the edges of job creation--no matter how loudly they scream (Thugs) or earnestly they opine (Dems)--until they're willing to confront the true elephant in the room.

    Outsourcing.

That would require an open break with their corporate backers though, and neither party is anywhere near willing to even approach that Rubicon, the true third rail of American politics. Not that there's any "easy" progressive answer either... because workers in China need and deserve jobs too.

A sensible person might suspect it's time to scrap the whole capitalist system and start over again.

When you triangulate everything, you can't even roll downhill...

    •  The President put Health Care Reform first, (4+ / 0-)

financial reform second, and climate change/energy third.
(In addition to the emergency stimulus measures).
Due to the Senate Stall on HCR, the Dems were unable to get the Senate half of the climate change /energy bill through.
That would have been a revolution in clean energy, energy efficiency, the addressing of climate change, and the development of a 21st century infrastructure.

It would have meant, over time, millions of unexportable middle class and working class private sector jobs.
It would also have meant more investment in education and research and development, and would have stimulated entrepeneurship and venture capital.
We are on the cusp of a revolution that could potentially restore the middle class economy and take the strain off the social safety net.

      The gop is obstructing it.

You can't make this stuff up.
