    because it only covers certain states and jurisdictions, would a new VRA be in order that applies to all states?

    Just a thought should Scalia & Co use that as the reason to strike down the act.

      not the entire thing. I defer to more informed people on that to be absolutely sure, however.

      Section 5 is very very important because it Prevents local and state laws that would unjustly effect voting in those areas that have a history of keeping minorities from voting.

      It is obscene that, given the voter and voting manipulations we just saw during the last election, Scalia et all can argue that it's not needed anymore.

      They just made predominantly minority people wait 7 hrs to vote.
