  •  Investigation? (4.00)
When was this "investigation" done?  Is this the report that Newsweek's source saw?

MSNBC is saying that the investigation was sparked by the Newsweek article.  I don't fucking buy it.  The Pentagon couldn't conduct an investigation in three weeks!

The point is, this investigation is the report that Newsweek saw.  Scott McClellan/Bush/Cheney, et al. KNEW what was in the report, and they disassembled to the world.  THIS is what we hammer!

not to be a dick, but "disassemble" is a bushism.

the correct word is "dissemble" - "feign: make believe with the intent to deceive; "He feigned that he was ill"; "He shammed a headache""

for an even better treatment of the bushism, check out john stewart if last night's show is posted anywhere.

not trying to be a dick, just protecting your vocabulary from dubya...

otherwise, nice post - you're probably right, is my guess.

It is pretty clear that this is the investigation Newsweek was talking about.  From the Southern Command press release Enclosure 1 (PDF):

2.a. Guards.  We have determined that in seven incidents involving guards, the guard(s) involved accidentally touched the Koran, touched it within the scope of his (their) duties, or did not actually touch the Koran at all.

Sound familier?  I don't have the link, but I'm pretty sure I saw that in in print soon after Newsweek retacted, as part of the downplaying of potential Quran abuse.
