    Owning a home either outright or that you can presumably afford the payments on, including mortgage, tax, insurance, utilities, etc., plus $170k in net worth, while far from a fortune, is a lot better than many people are doing these days. The home is likely to go back up in value, and that's a decent cushion these days with inflation what it is. It's the generations just behind today's seniors who are in trouble, not having or likely to have such assets in future dollar value. That's going to be a MASSIVE social safety net problem in 10-20 years if left unaddressed.
