  •  LA-GOV (8+ / 0-)

He's running for governor. I've said it a million times, he won't run for Senate. He is a shoo-in for governor.

    •  Shoo-in feels a bit strong (0+ / 0-)

If Mitch Landrieu or a well financed Dem runs it's far from inconceivable Jay doesn't get to the runoff.  The presence of other well known GOPers (John Kennedy, Rodney Alexander, ect) also complicates things.  Vitter also won't be a pushover in a straight fight.

If I were a betting man I'd bet Jay is our next Gov, but it's far from certain.

I think it could happen if both Mayor Landrieu and Sen. Vitter ran for governor, but as ArkDem says, Landrieu just isn't going to run.

From what I have heard and overheard, he wants to finish out a second term, which will end with the city's 300th anniversary and a likely Super Bowl.

It'll give him the time to finish reforms over the local judiciary, the SWB and (hopefully) the expanded Loyola streetcar line to the Marigny/Bywater.
