From io9: Leaked plot to Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland sounds like Disney’s Brave New World

A potential plotline for Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof's mysterious Tomorrowland movie is one part AI and two parts Brave New World. The movie, inspired by a box of random Disney World memorabilia from 1952 has had us all fairly befuddled. What does a box of crap have to do with Lindelof and Bird? What does it all mean? Why can't Disney force Bird to direct the Star Wars movie?

Just recently, Disney World historian Jim Hill dreamed up a completely fascinating theory for Tomorrowland centered around a mid-1950s UFO conspiracy when, "the U.S. government supposedly approached Walt Disney and then asked for his help in producing a TV show that would eventually be used to break the news to the American public that UFOS are real." Which sounds completely rad.

But today Hitfix stepped up with their own Tomorrowland scoop, debunking the intriguing UFO conspiracy and replacing it with an even crazier scheme. Based on the fairly reliable leaked information from a Hollywood agency, here is the alleged official plot of Tomorrowland:

"A teenage girl, a genius middle-aged man (who was kicked out of Tomorrowland) and a pre-pubescent girl robot attempt to get to and unravel what happened to Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternative dimension, in order to save Earth."
But wait there's more! According to Hitfix, Walt Disney's dream of Tomorrowland is fully realized in this flick and run by the evil David Nix (played by Hugh Laurie).
Of course, all of the above is still conjecture since none of it has been confirmed, but it will be interesting to see how "meta" Disney will let this movie get, since a lot of Walt Disney's original plans for his theme parks (especially Disney World) border on mad scientist/supervillain level plans.

Walt Disney's original idea for Disney World included EPCOT. Not the theme park with the thing that looks like a golf ball down at Disney World now, but something called the "Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow." It would have been a large Disney created & controlled "City of Tomorrow" that would have sat next to & connected to the Disney World theme park via monorail.

Some of the most interesting aspects about the city Mickey would have built, would have been Disney's vision of a city center that would have replaced cars with Disney PeopleMovers, and enclosing the streets & buildings at the city center under a 50 acre climate controlled dome. I would love to have seen how well Disney-tech would have dealt with the Hurricanes that roll through south Florida.

The video below is a little long, but you can see the original idea for EPCOT at about 9:00.
