  •  The most apt description (10+ / 0-)

of our current status as a society that I have heard was: "We may not have arrived at Fascism yet but we've definitely turned off into the parking lot and we're looking for a parking space."  I wish I knew who to attribute it to but I read it years ago in a blog comments section.

The plutocrats are driving, the Republicans are riding shotgun, the moderates are scouting from the back-seat, while the rest of the population is locked in the trunk. Since yelling and hammering on the trunk and the backseat are being ignored, it's only a matter of time before violence ensues. And which side will be blamed...?

When 1% take 121% of the gains from "recovery", people actually recovering from lost employment are trading down on wages and benefits. Current strategies by moderates don't even consider winning the Class War.

in a large, impenetrable dome of authoritarianism which you are helping to construct. It will one day be occupied by Republicans, as soon as the plutocrat-friendly Democrats are outmaneuvered.

"belief in or belonging to a fascistic cult of personality".

Sorry if I've misunderstood you, but I have no other way to make sense of your comment in the context of this particular diary. What cult of personality is involved here?
